NASHVILLE, TENN. (MEDIA GENERAL)—First she ‘kissed a girl,’ and now Katy Perry is getting naked for Voter Registration Day—well, sort of.
On Tuesday, also Voter Registration Day, the popstar collaborated with Funny or Die and Rock the Vote to release a viral video, “Katy Perry Votes Naked,” encouraging her fans to register to vote as deadlines for the general election approach.
The video opens with Perry rolling out of bed in American flag pajama with old lipstick smeared across her face and popcorn stuck in her hair.
“You know, Election Day is Nov. 8, and I’ve got some great news: this year, you can look like s**t when you vote,” Perry says.
Cameras follow the popstar to her to her local polling place where extras are lined up in their respective just-out-of-bed attire, including a child’s onesie, an Ebenezer Scrooge costume and one girl with acne cream still dotted on her face.
“Yep, I’ve briefly scanned the Constitution, and nowhere does it say you can’t just roll out of bed and come to the polls in whatever state you woke up in.”
Then, the shameless star reveals that she prefers to sleep naked—stripping down from her jammies and into her birthday suit in the middle of the polling place.
While the stunt doesn’t work out too well for her, it’s definitely makes for good laugh.
Perry, a well-known Hillary Clinton supporter, has taken an active role in promoting participation in the upcoming election, including her two-song performance at the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia, Pa., back in July.
This is her first stunt with Rock the Vote, which is the largest non-profit, bi-partisan voting organization in the United States.
