Perry is no stranger when it comes to full-scale performances on the field. With the Super Bowl XLIX Halftime show under her belt and a viral “Left Shark” meme to boot, it only made sense for the “Harleys In Hawaii” songstress to premier her new music video during the College Football Playoff National Championship on Monday (January 10).
Katy and the Swedish DJ have been teasing the arrival of “When I’m Gone” since late November. When the full track dropped before New Year's Eve, the artistic duo left fans hungry for an accompanying visual component.
When Perry announced that she and Alesso would be dropping the music video during a momentous championship game she noted, “ESPN and especially College GameDay hold a special place in my heart, so partnering with Alesso to become the first artists to ever debut a global music video within a live event on ESPN made for a perfect and natural pairing.”
