Ayo Edebiri calls Jennifer Lopez’s career a ‘scam’ — past insults resurface ahead of their joint ‘SNL’ gig

“The Bear” star Ayo Edebiri has claws!

Years before Edebiri, 28, won an Emmy for the uber-popular Hulu show, she appeared on the “Scam Goddess” podcast in 2020 where she claimed Jennifer Lopez’s career is “one long scam.”

While she probably didn’t ever think she would have to defend her comment, it may cause awkward tension when Edebiri hosts “Saturday Night Live” on Feb. 3 with musical guest Lopez, 54.

Appearing on the podcast to discuss Linda Taylor’s welfare scam, the “Big Mouth” comedian said of the “Booty” singer, “Well, that’s the thing. She thinks she’s on multiple tracks, but it’s not her.”

“I think she thinks that she’s still good even though she’s not singing for most of these songs,” she added.

R&B singer Ashanti has previously claimed that her reference track vocals were passed off as Mrs. Ben Affleck’s in Lopez’s “I’m Real” and “Ain’t it Funny” remixed tracks.

Edebiri continued that she became “fascinated” that some of Lopez’s vocals are allegedly those of other pop stars.

“A lot of the write-ups of the songs will be like, ‘J. Lo didn’t have time to make it to the studio,’ like J. Lo was busy,” Edebiri explained. “It’s like, ‘Doing what?’ Not singing, obviously!”

Neither Edebiri nor Lopez have addressed the resurfaced comments. They did however, stand side-by-side in a “SNL” promo released Friday alongside cast member Heidi Gardner.

“I’m really excited, I love your show,” Lopez said as she looked into Edebiri’s eyes during the teaser. “I love your everything,” Edebiri replied with a smile.

The Post has contacted reps for Edebiri and Lopez for comment.

Fans in the YouTube comments reacted to Edebiri’s suspected lie.

“Ayo has a natural flair for comedy,” one laughed.

“‘I love your everything,'” Ayo being a scammer,” another chuckled.

A third screamed, “AYO WE HEARD THE PODCAST! YOU’RE not fooling anyone.”

“SNL” airs on NBC at 11:30 p.m. EST on Feb. 3.
