While filming in a cave, the make-up artists on set decided to add a lot of product to the actor’s face, in order to make sure that he did not look ashen. The eyeliner was a part of it. Very soon, everyone realized how amazing it looked, and decided to go with it, continuing to use it for the rest of the franchise.

Johnny Depp Began To Fall In Love With The Eyeliner

Quickly, Johnny Depp got very intrigued by the make-up aspect of the character and loved how the eyeliner looked on him. According to the Inquirer, it was revealed by the lead make-up artist, Ve Neill that Depp would often keep asking the makeup artist to add more and more eyeliner.

“We put eyeliner on Johnny, and he said, ‘That looks great. Let’s put more on,’ “ he went on, “It became a joke. We’d say, ‘More black! More black!’ “

He went on to reveal that the actor would go so far as to ask the crew to reapply it every two to three hours. It became such a frequently occurring thing, that it became a matter of amusement among the makeup artists, who would joke about Depp continuously asking for ‘more black under his eyes.’
